Free Weekly Prompt

I am releasing one prompt each week from my Deluxe Take-a-Write Prompts, rotating from sheet to sheet, to give folks a chance to see how these prompts can help their writing process. If I continue doing this, in something over four years I will have given all of them away, but if you decide you don't want to wait that long for all the goodies on those specially formatted sheets, get more prompts here, at our new Spring Sale prices.

To get as much value as possible from the prompt, try to set aside a relatively distraction-free space/time. Give it an absolute minimum of ten minutes on the keyboard (if you are fast) or at least fifteen minutes if you are writing by hand, and if possible have space you could extend into if you really get going. If you can't write it right now, try not to think about it in the meantime, or if you can't get it out of your mind, try not to go beyond your first thought in your head and make a time to write it as soon as possible.

Starting April 4, 2010, the prompt will change at the beginning of each Sunday.

I enjoy walking in…

More prompts…

I will be freewriting the prompts of the week for part of my own writing practice, and I am going to share. After you do your own write, feel free to look and see where I went with the same prompt. It can be very expanding to see where different people go from the same jumping off place, which is why I always encourage writers to get involved in a freewriting group if they can. Take a look at my write here, and if you are excited about something you did from one of these prompts, please feel free to email me and tell me about it.

If doing this write has you all warmed up and ready for more, you can get another free weekly prompt from our own Write 'em Cowgirl Express subscriber, Kate Gould at the Fineline Editorial Consultancy: http://editorial-consultancy.co.uk/dear-editor/your-weekly-writing-prompt/.
